I needed to replace a one year old Bissel Pet Hair Eraser, which started out great, but slowly (well, maybe not so slowly) got noisier and vibrated a lat, while not picking up as well as it used to.
After looking at all the reviews I selected the Shark Navigator. What a nice surprise. Seven pounds lighter than my old vacuum, more than ample power, much quieter and easier to move around. The cup is a bit smaller than my old vacuum, but is so much easier to empty that it more than makes up for it. The width is slightly less, but as it is so much lighter and easier to maneuver, it is a tradeoff I'll gladly make. The feature that stops the roller brush when you return the unit to the upright position works very nicely. It comes with an illustrated assembly guide that makes putting it together simple and straight forward. Rather than try to store every tool on the vacuum, they provide a draw string storage bag for the 24" crevice tool and the pet hair brush. some may find that less convenient, but it keeps things from becoming heavy and cumbersome. I can't say anything about long term reliability, yet, but with a 5 year warranty, I feel reasonably confident.
